OK Movement Crisis deepens as Kwankwaso’s spokesman confirms Peter Obi’s concerns over internal disputes ahead of the 2027 election
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has expressed concern over the growing OK Movement Crisis, according to Ladipo Johnson, spokesperson for former Kano State governor Rabi’u Kwankwaso, who confirmed that disagreements have emerged within the political alliance ahead of the 2027 general election.

Johnson disclosed this during an interview on Arise Television, where he acknowledged the existence of tensions among members of the campaign bloc, but described the situation as a temporary challenge rather than a major setback.
The spokesman said the disagreement had become a distraction at a time when members of the Movement should be focused on strengthening its nationwide political structure and preparing for the upcoming election.
According to Johnson, the dispute arose from differences between some members of the Movement and its leadership, warning that unresolved tensions could affect efforts to build a united political platform.
He cautioned supporters against taking actions that could deepen divisions within the alliance, stressing that unity would be critical to sustaining the movement’s political ambitions.
“Yes, we have, may I call it a distraction at the moment. It is not such, in my own humble opinion, that would lead you to take unilateral actions that could possibly scuttle or bring bad blood within the support base of the person you purportedly want to become the president of the country,” Johnson said.
He added that Obi had been informed about the development and was unhappy with the situation.
“I saw the presidential candidate last night along with the DG. He’s not happy about the whole situation,” he stated.
The comments come amid renewed attention on the proposed political partnership between Obi and Kwankwaso, which has attracted interest among opposition supporters seeking an alternative platform ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.
The alliance, often referred to as the Obi-Kwankwaso movement, has faced questions over leadership structure, internal coordination and the balance of influence between supporters of both political figures.
While Johnson described the current disagreement as manageable, he stressed the need for dialogue and cooperation to prevent internal disputes from affecting the broader objectives of the Movement.
