Olajide Epe resigns from PRP, saying the party lacks national relevance and no longer aligns with his political goals ahead of the 2027 elections
The National Vice Chairman (South-West) of the Peoples Redemption Party, Wolimoh Olajide Epe, has resigned from the party, citing concerns over its declining national relevance and political direction ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Olajide announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the National Chairman of the PRP, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, stating that the decision takes immediate effect after extensive consultations with political associates, supporters and other stakeholders.
According to the former party official, the decision was reached after careful reflection on the party’s future and its ability to compete effectively in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
He said remaining in the PRP would no longer align with his political aspirations or those of his supporters.
Olajide expressed appreciation to the party for the opportunities it gave him during his years of service, noting that he had served in several leadership positions, including committee member, National Youth Leader and National Vice Chairman representing the South-West.
Despite acknowledging his contributions, he said the party had failed to develop into a formidable national political platform capable of challenging for power at the federal level.
According to him, many of his supporters have become increasingly concerned about what they see as the party’s inability to build political momentum across the country.
He argued that there is a growing perception among members and supporters that the PRP lacks the ambition and strategic direction needed to emerge as a major force in national politics.
Olajide also claimed the party has gradually shifted away from active political engagement, describing it as a platform that now functions more as a forum for political discussions than one focused on winning elections and influencing governance.
“I sincerely hope the leadership of the PRP will reflect on these observations and take the necessary steps to reposition the party for greater national relevance and inclusiveness,” he said.
His resignation comes as political parties continue to reposition themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections, with internal realignments, defections and coalition talks gathering momentum across the country’s political landscape.
