The remarks were made on Friday during an inspection tour of state-owned technical colleges across Ondo State.

Represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Technical and Vocational Education, Mr Tayo Oluyi, Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasised that technical education is a cornerstone of workforce development and innovation.

The inspection aimed to assess teaching and learning conditions, hear directly from principals, teachers, and students, and align institutions with the administration’s strategic vision.

“Our administration remains deeply committed to uplifting technical and vocational education in the state.

These institutions are critical to driving innovation, economic productivity and sustainable employment for youths,” the governor said.

Governor Aiyedatiwa noted that ongoing rehabilitation of dilapidated structures at the colleges would be completed with renewed vigour.

“We are moving swiftly to ensure that all ongoing renovations are completed to modern standards. Our students deserve safe, conducive and inspiring learning spaces. A strong technical education system is not an option; it is a necessity,” he added.

The inspection included visits to Government Technical College, Owo; Government Technical College, Okitipupa; Government Technical College, Idanre; Government Technical College, Oka-Akoko; and Federal Science Technical College, Ikare-Akoko.

During the visits, the governor underscored the importance of equipping youths with practical skills that empower job creation, support industries, and drive economic growth.
