Only Courageous Politicians Can Join ADC, says Aminu Tambuwal as he accuses the APC of intimidating defectors ahead of 2027
Former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has said only courageous politicians who are committed to serving the people rather than pursuing personal interests have what it takes to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Tambuwal made the remark on Wednesday while receiving the immediate past Chairman of Tangaza Local Government Area, Isa Salihu Kalenjeni, into the ADC after the former council chairman resigned from office and left the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The former governor urged politicians who believe they are acting in the public interest to openly identify with the ADC despite any political pressure.
“Anyone who believes that what he is doing is for the people and for the sake of God, not for personal gain, should have the courage to leave any political party and join the ADC,” Tambuwal said.
He alleged that the APC was intimidating politicians planning to defect to the opposition party while also attempting to create divisions within the ADC.
According to Tambuwal, the ruling party now views the ADC as its biggest political challenge ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The former governor also criticised the administration of President Bola Tinubu over the country’s security situation, saying many Nigerians had become disillusioned with the APC because of persistent insecurity.
Tambuwal praised Kalenjeni for resigning from office and joining the ADC without attaching any conditions to his defection.
He described the move as a sacrifice and a demonstration of commitment to the party’s ideals rather than personal political ambition.
Kalenjeni’s defection adds to a series of political realignments involving opposition figures as parties reposition themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.

The ADC has attracted renewed attention in recent months following efforts by opposition politicians to strengthen the party’s national presence as an alternative platform.
