Oshiomhole Reveals Shock as APC Chair Sack Happened via Zoom

Oshiomhole says he was sacked as APC chairman via Zoom, describing the process as controversial and politically motivated

Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North, has recounted how he was removed as national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), claiming the decision was taken through a Zoom meeting held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Adams Oshiomhole made the revelation during an interview on African Independent Television (AIT), where he described the process of his removal as unusual and politically driven.

The former APC national chairman said he played a key role in stabilising the party during President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2015 electoral victory and in managing internal leadership disputes within the National Assembly.

He stated that despite his contributions, efforts were made to remove him from office through what he described as non-democratic means.

“Once the system got stabilised, I was sacked through a Zoom, and when people couldn’t get me removed democratically, they claimed that eight members of my Ward signed a petition that they passed a vote of no confidence on me,” he said.

Oshiomhole further alleged that the process involved legal disputes, including court rulings and appeals that were later overturned and reinstated in a sequence he described as confusing and politically motivated.

He claimed that the eventual National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting that confirmed his removal was also conducted virtually, which he said marked a turning point in the handling of party affairs.

The senator maintained that the circumstances surrounding his exit reflected internal power struggles within the party at the time.
