INEC urges political parties and candidates in Osun to strictly comply with the Electoral Act 2026 as campaigns begin for the August governorship election
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osun State has advised political parties and candidates to ensure all campaign activities comply with the Electoral Act 2026 and the commission’s regulations.

Political campaigns for the 2026 governorship election are set to officially begin on March 11, 2026, according to the commission’s timetable.
The statement, signed by Resident Electoral Commissioner Dr. Mutiu Agboke, stressed that parties and supporters must conduct campaigns peacefully, focusing on issue-based engagements and avoiding inflammatory rhetoric, hate speech, and violence.

INEC reiterated its commitment to collaborating with security agencies, civil society, and the media to ensure the August 15, 2026, election is credible, transparent, inclusive, and free from violence.
