‘Peter Obi 2027 Elections Bid Too Risky for PDP Return’, Says ADC Spokesman

Peter Obi 2027 elections plan won’t involve a PDP return, says ADC. The coalition says it’s too politically risky and confirms Obi’s role in opposition unity

Peter Obi 2027 Elections plans will not include a return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), according to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which described such a move as politically “too risky” for the former Anambra governor.

Speaking on Prime Time, a current affairs show on Arise Television, Bolaji Abdullahi, ADC spokesman and former PDP minister, dismissed speculation that Obi was being courted back to the PDP.

“Peter Obi is in the coalition,” Abdullahi asserted, referencing the opposition alliance being spearheaded by the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“Everyone knows the jugular of the PDP is in the hands of the ruling party. Peter Obi… knows he cannot take the risk of going to the PDP.”

This statement comes amid growing calls for a united front against the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027, with ADC emphasizing Obi’s central role in the broader opposition strategy.

Meanwhile, Professor Jerry Gana, founding PDP member and respected statesman, added his voice to the momentum building around Obi.

In an AIT interview, Gana described Obi as “disciplined, prudent, and deeply committed to the Nigerian project.”

“Peter Obi is a symbol of hope,” he said. “He is a key voice for the future of democracy, and we need people like him leading the opposition.”

Gana stressed the importance of a broad opposition coalition, warning that no single party can unseat the APC in 2027 without strategic unity.
