Peter Obi’s aide urges NDC to clarify its official logo, warning that uncertainty could affect campaign preparations ahead of the 2027 elections

Esther Umoh, who serves as Peter Obi’s campaign photographer, made the appeal on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in a statement addressed to the party’s Director of New Media and Strategic Communications, Theo Abu Agada.
Umoh expressed concern over what she described as lingering confusion surrounding the NDC’s official logo, saying supporters, candidates and party officials need clear guidance as election activities gather momentum.
According to her, the absence of an official directive identifying the logo approved for use has left many party members uncertain about which emblem should appear on campaign materials.
She warned that the situation could affect the party’s visibility, unity and overall readiness for the 2027 polls if left unresolved.
“At this critical stage, the party cannot afford avoidable confusion or mixed messaging. We are working towards victory, and every decision, including clarity around the party’s identity and campaign materials, must reflect that commitment,” Umoh said.
The campaign aide called on the party leadership to issue an official communiqué to all state chapters and stakeholders, clearly identifying the logo recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and providing uniform guidelines for its use.
Umoh also questioned the delay in resolving the issue, expressing hope that it was not an indication of unpreparedness or actions that could weaken the party’s electoral prospects.
“The NDC must act decisively to protect and strengthen its chances at the polls,” she added.
The call comes as political parties continue to strengthen their structures and branding ahead of the 2027 general elections, with party symbols expected to play a crucial role in voter identification, especially in rural communities and among first-time voters.

As of the time of filing this report, the NDC leadership had not publicly responded to Umoh’s concerns regarding the party’s official logo.
