Peter Obi donates N10 million to Immaculate Heart of Mary Specialist Hospital in Nkpor, supporting healthcare services and community wellbeing
Peter Obi, former two-term governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate of the Labour Party in 2023, has donated N10 million to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Specialist Hospital in Nkpor, Anambra State.

Obi announced the donation in a statement shared on his X handle on Friday.
During his visit to the hospital on February 12, Obi interacted with staff and patients, observing the dedication with which healthcare professionals deliver services.
“After listening to them and observing firsthand the dedication with which they carry out their work, I presented a cheque of ₦10 million to support the hospital’s continued growth and improvement in service delivery,” he wrote.
Obi highlighted the vital role missionary health institutions play in Nigeria’s healthcare system, noting that they provide over 60% of services in underserved communities.
He praised their transparency, prudent management, and selfless service, emphasising that such facilities complement government efforts to provide accessible healthcare.
He called on both government and private individuals to support voluntary health agencies, recognising their ability to manage critical healthcare services efficiently and effectively.
Obi also encouraged hospital proprietors and staff to remain committed to their mission of compassionate, quality care, stressing the importance of professionalism, integrity, and service excellence.

Through his donation, Obi reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare sector and supporting institutions that deliver essential services to vulnerable populations.
