Plateau attack 28 killed Mutfwang confirms deadly Jos North incident, with governor vowing justice, curfew enforcement and support for victims
Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, speaking in Jos, Nigeria, on Tuesday, confirmed that 28 people were killed in a deadly gunmen attack on Angwan Rukuba community in Jos North Local Government Area, describing the incident as tragic and senseless.

The Plateau attack 28 killed Mutfwang confirms statement came during a statewide broadcast following his visit to the affected community and hospitals treating survivors.
Mutfwang said the victims were law-abiding residents who were attacked while going about their normal activities on Sunday evening, stressing that the government would ensure justice is served.
He described the incident as a painful blow to the state and extended condolences to bereaved families, assuring them of government support, including full medical coverage for the injured and assistance for affected households.
The governor announced that a 48-hour curfew had been imposed on Jos North Local Government Area to restore order and support ongoing security operations.
He added that security agencies had already apprehended a suspect linked to threats against peace in the state, while efforts continued to track others involved in the attack.
Mutfwang also called on residents to remain calm, vigilant and cooperative with security agencies, urging communities to report suspicious activities to prevent further violence.
He commended residents for avoiding reprisal attacks, describing their restraint as vital to maintaining stability amid rising tensions.
The governor further directed strict enforcement of the ban on commercial motorcycles within the Jos Greater Master Plan as part of broader security reforms.
