PRP says it is prepared to defeat APC in 2027 elections, citing unity, completed primaries and readiness for nationwide political contest
The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has expressed confidence that the party is positioned to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

Baba-Ahmed made the statement during an interview in Kaduna, where he declared that the party had emerged stronger, more united and better prepared following the completion of its leadership selection process and primaries.
He said the party had undergone a rigorous internal process conducted in line with its constitution and national electoral laws, describing the exercise as successful and credible.
According to him, the PRP is now fully organised and ready for the upcoming elections across the country.
“We are in an excellent state after a very demanding process of conducting leadership selection according to our constitution and the laws of the land,” he said.
He added that while a few grievances were recorded during the process, the party activated its internal dispute resolution mechanism to address concerns raised by some aspirants.
“We have come out clean. We had a few cases where some candidates felt they were unjustly treated, but we activated our internal dispute resolution mechanism and appeals committee to address those concerns,” he said.
Baba-Ahmed stated that the PRP is now focused, united and determined to take control of national leadership.
“We are stronger than we were before. We are united, focused and prepared to lead Nigeria,” he said.
He further declared that the party is prepared to defeat the ruling party and chart a new direction for the country.
“We are prepared to defeat the ruling party and lead Nigeria in a different direction,” he added.
The PRP chairman also revealed that the party has concluded its primaries nationwide and selected candidates for various elective positions ahead of the polls.
He said former Cross River State governor Donald Duke has emerged as the party’s presidential candidate.
“We have concluded our primaries. We now have a presidential candidate, Mr Donald Duke,” he said.
Baba-Ahmed noted that the party has fielded a wide range of candidates across the country, covering governorship, senatorial and legislative seats.
He also maintained that the PRP has resolved all internal disputes arising from its nomination processes and currently has no pending litigation or factional crisis.
“As we speak, PRP is the only party in this country that has absolutely no factions, no cases in any court,” he said.

The chairman expressed confidence that the party is well positioned for the 2027 election cycle.
