In a statement issued on Friday in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Rufus Aiyenigba, accused security agencies of acting with perceived political bias in handling an internal party dispute.
Aiyenigba said the SDP police action condemnation Nigeria position followed an incident involving former SDP National Chairman, Shehu Gabam, whom the party insists had already been expelled.
He alleged that police officers intervened without any court order, describing the move as reckless and partisan in nature.
According to him, the officers “bulldozed their way” into the matter, raising serious concerns about neutrality and professionalism within the nation’s security institutions.
The party maintained that such actions, if unchecked, could weaken public trust in democratic institutions and distort the rule of law.
It urged relevant authorities to ensure that security agencies operate strictly within legal boundaries while remaining impartial in political matters.
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) further called on Nigerians to remain calm and law-abiding, stressing that peace and order must be preserved despite political disagreements.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to democratic values, insisting that fairness, justice, and institutional accountability are essential for sustaining Nigeria’s democracy.
