Seyi Tinubu Urges APC Supporters to Build Grassroots Push

Seyi Tinubu grassroots mobilisation message urges APC supporters to focus on community engagement ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 election

Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, and Hon. Francis Shoga have urged supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to intensify grassroots mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general election, warning that electoral support cannot be built through social media activity alone.

Speaking to supporters in Abuja on Monday, the two figures called for a stronger community presence, encouraging party members to engage directly with Nigerians in neighbourhoods, communities and households.

The appeal comes as political groups begin early preparations for the 2027 election cycle, with parties seeking to strengthen their structures and expand voter engagement ahead of what is expected to be a competitive contest.

Seyi Tinubu urged supporters to take on broader roles as communicators, educators, mobilisers and representatives of the campaign’s message, stressing the importance of presenting information with empathy and responsibility.

He encouraged members to move beyond online conversations and focus on meaningful interactions with citizens across the country.

Francis Shoga reinforced the message, saying the movement’s target of securing 10 million votes would depend on organised structures and personal engagement rather than slogans.

“Our mission is clear. Our target is 10 million votes. Our strength lies in our people. And our time is now,” Shoga said.

“These 10 million votes will not be secured through slogans or social media; they will come from genuine individuals, established structures, meaningful engagement, and diligent work at the grassroots level,” he added.

The mobilisation message reflects a wider trend in Nigerian politics, where parties increasingly combine digital campaigns with traditional field operations to reach voters directly.

Although social media has become an influential platform for political communication, election strategists have continued to emphasise the importance of local networks, voter outreach and community-level organisation in determining electoral outcomes.

Shoga urged supporters who believe in the campaign’s objectives to take active roles within their communities.

“If you believe in this movement, bring someone into it. Get involved. Get organised. Get to work,” he said.

He added that future generations would judge political actors by the actions they took when given opportunities to serve.

“History will one day inquire what we did when we had the opportunity to serve. Let our response be straightforward: we stood up, we organised, we worked, we mobilised, and we delivered,” Shoga said.

The comments come as political actors across Nigeria begin laying the groundwork for the next election cycle, with grassroots organisation expected to remain a central factor in campaigns seeking national support.
