Oyo APC Candidate Alleges Attack on Wife, Two Others

Oyo APC governorship candidate Sharafadeen Alli alleges attacks on his wife and two party candidates in Ibadan, urging security agencies to act

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has alleged that hoodlums attacked his wife, Mrs Tawakalitu Alli, and two other party candidates at separate locations in Ibadan.

Alli raised the alarm in a statement signed by the Director of his campaign organisation, Bisi Oladele, and made available to DAILY POST on Thursday, October 8, 2026.

According to the statement, the alleged incidents occurred on Wednesday during a programme at Ibikunle Palace in Ibadan and at other locations in the city.

The APC candidate also alleged that the party’s Oyo South senatorial candidate, Remi Oseni, and its House of Representatives candidate for the Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency, Hon. Folake Olunloyo-Oshinlowo, were attacked.

The claims had not been independently verified at the time of reporting.

Reacting to the incidents, Alli described the alleged attacks as unwarranted and barbaric, expressing concern over the safety of political stakeholders in the state.

He called on Governor Seyi Makinde, whom he noted was responsible for security in the state, to ensure the protection of residents regardless of their political affiliations.

“As the chief security officer of the state, Governor Makinde carries the responsibility to protect all residents, irrespective of their political leanings,” Alli said.

The APC candidate stressed the need for security agencies to investigate the allegations and identify those responsible.

Alli’s campaign organisation urged law enforcement agencies to track down the alleged perpetrators and ensure they face the law.

“The SSACO calls on security agencies to fish out these perpetrators of violence and bring them to book in order to serve justice to the victims and also serve as a deterrent to violence in our dear state,” he said.

The call comes amid political activity in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general elections, with parties and candidates preparing for the next electoral cycle.

The alleged incidents have raised concerns about the safety of political figures and their supporters during party-related gatherings and other public events.

There was no response from the Oyo State Government or security agencies included in the report regarding the allegations.
