Tambuwal Judiciary Warning Nigeria as senator urges judges to avoid influence and protect Nigeria’s democracy at ADC convention in Abuja
Former Sokoto State Governor and serving senator Aminu Tambuwal on Tuesday issued a stern warning to members of the judiciary, urging them to act with integrity and avoid being used to undermine Nigeria’s democratic system.

Aminu Tambuwal delivered the remarks at the national convention of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) held in Abuja, where he cautioned that the country’s democratic future depends heavily on the independence and credibility of its institutions.
Tambuwal Judiciary Warning Nigeria message came as he referenced Nigeria’s political history, warning judicial officers not to allow themselves to be influenced in ways that could harm national stability.
He drew attention to past electoral controversies, noting that history continues to judge the actions of individuals in positions of authority.
“We are in very interesting times in Nigeria today, where pseudo Democrats found their way to power and are manifestly exposing themselves,” Tambuwal said during his address.
The senator specifically directed his appeal toward members of the judiciary, urging them to remain impartial and resist external pressure in the discharge of their duties.
He cautioned that judicial decisions carry long-term consequences and warned that future generations would judge current leaders based on their actions.
Tambuwal further stressed that all public officers must remain accountable, noting that even when decisions appear private, they are ultimately subject to divine and historical judgment.
He referenced the June 12, 1993 electoral crisis, urging judges to avoid any role that could repeat past mistakes or destabilise the country’s democratic progress.
