In a message shared on his X handle, the President praised members of the Armed Forces and other security agencies, describing them as a vital shield between citizens and those threatening national peace and stability.
“You stand as a shield between innocent citizens and those who seek to destroy the peace, safety, and dignity of our communities,” Tinubu said.
He acknowledged the harsh conditions under which security operatives work, noting their deployment across forests, highways, creeks, air operations, and other difficult terrains in pursuit of national security objectives.
Tinubu said their efforts have come at great personal cost, adding that the nation recognises the pain, pressure, and sacrifice involved in the fight against insecurity.
“This fight has not been easy. It has come with pain, pressure, and sacrifice. But your courage has remained firm. Your service is acknowledged. Your sacrifice is honoured. Your country does not take you for granted,” he stated.
The President also extended appreciation to personnel of the Police Force, Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, intelligence services, and local security networks supporting national operations.
He further paid tribute to the families of security personnel, acknowledging the emotional toll of long deployments and the uncertainty associated with active service.
“I also acknowledge the families behind the uniform. Many of you have endured long absences, anxious nights, and the emotional cost of duty. Nigeria remembers that sacrifice, too,” he said.
Tinubu honoured officers who lost their lives in the line of duty, describing their sacrifice as a lasting contribution to national survival and stability.
“We honour those who have paid the supreme price in defence of our country. Their names may not always trend, but their courage lives on,” he added.
The President urged Nigerians to support security agencies by providing timely and credible intelligence, stressing that the fight against terrorism requires collective responsibility.
“The fight against terror is not only a military operation. It is a national duty,” he said.
Reaffirming government commitment, Tinubu insisted that Nigeria would not succumb to fear or violence, despite ongoing security challenges.
“Nigeria will not surrender to fear,” he declared.
