His itinerary includes a brief stopover in Los Angeles before arriving in Brasília.
This leg of the president’s trip follows his participation in the ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), where he held bilateral meetings and engaged with the Nigerian diaspora community in Japan.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the president emphasized the importance of diaspora involvement in rebuilding Nigeria.
“I am happy to report that many of our people are returning home… Your contribution is very much needed. If you stay away, who will build it?” Tinubu asked.
He noted that national development requires a joint effort, not just from government but also from Nigerians living abroad.
Tinubu underscored that choosing to live elsewhere is a personal right, but reminded the diaspora that their country also needs them now more than ever.
The president’s message highlighted economic growth opportunities in Nigeria, encouraging skilled professionals to contribute their expertise to strengthen institutions and infrastructure.
Tinubu also remarked, “If we don’t join hands and work together, then we’ve lost the hope of being the leaders we are supposed to be.”
