Wike Blasts ADC, NDC, Calls Opposition Parties “Lying Messiahs”

Nyesom Wike criticises ADC and NDC, calling them unfit to lead Nigeria and accusing them of lacking internal democracy

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as unfit alternatives for national leadership, accusing them of misleading Nigerians.

Wike made the remarks during his monthly media chat, where he criticised opposition parties over what he described as a lack of internal democracy and credibility.

He alleged that the ADC failed to conduct a transparent primary election that was acceptable to all its presidential aspirants, questioning the party’s readiness to govern the country.

According to him, the issues within smaller opposition parties expose broader weaknesses in their claims to offer better leadership than the ruling parties.

“NDC as small as they are can’t do a primary without protest, look at ADC, which says its coalition is willing to take over the structure of democracy. What has happened? During its primary, the two presidential aspirants said they can’t take it,” Wike said.

He further argued that parties which often criticise the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have failed to demonstrate better standards in their own internal processes.

“We have been accusing this and that party of doing this and that, now see what we have done. That now tells you who is deceiving who?” he added.

Wike went on to describe claims by opposition parties positioning themselves as Nigeria’s “saviours” as misleading, insisting they lack the capacity to present credible leadership alternatives.

“Who is coming to Nigerians to tell them lies that we are the Messiah? Those are all liars; they can’t be deceiving us,” he said.

The minister also referenced disputes within party primaries, saying disagreements among aspirants reflect deeper structural challenges.

“They have agreed that PDP is a dead party, APC is rotten but just ordinary Congress they can’t. They have three presidential aspirants, two said this is rubbish, criminality to the highest order,” he stated.
