Seyi Makinde alliance claim sparks controversy as a PDP faction disowns an Ibadan gathering and denies any political pact with the Allied Peoples Movement
Nyesom Wike-backed faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has criticised Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, accusing him of spreading what it described as misleading political narratives ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Wike-aligned PDP faction lasts Makinde on alliance claims emerged during a press briefing on Thursday, where the group also disowned a political gathering held in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Factional National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, said the party had no involvement in the event being promoted as a purported alliance between the PDP and the Allied Peoples Movement, APM.
He stressed that the PDP is not part of any coalition, agreement or political arrangement with the APM or any other political party regarding the Ibadan gathering or related activities.
According to him, any individual or group claiming to represent the PDP at the event acted without the party’s approval or authority.
“We have called this briefing to address the misleading narratives and deliberate falsehoods being circulated,” he said.
The faction further alleged that the Ibadan gathering exposed what it described as Makinde’s true political intentions, insisting that propaganda has an expiry date.

The development adds to ongoing internal tensions within the PDP as rival factions continue to disagree over alliances and political positioning ahead of the next election cycle.
