Nyesom Wike says only President Bola Tinubu can question him as he defends the Rainbow Coalition against APC governors
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike said President Bola Tinubu was the only person who could question him over his political activity.

Nyesom Wike spoke on Arise TV’s Prime Time while defending his role in the Rainbow Coalition and dismissing criticism from governors of the All Progressives Congress.
The former Rivers State governor was responding to opposition from the Progressive Governors Forum, led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, which has objected to any alliance it believes could weaken President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
“The only person that can question me is the President,” Nyesom Wike said.
Nyesom Wike accused some APC governors of playing politics in Abuja instead of building support in their states.
He said real leadership meant staying close to voters and settling disputes at home rather than blaming others for poor results.
“I can convince my people even though I am not the governor,” Nyesom Wike said.
He also attacked what he called a lack of leadership among politicians who spend most of their time in the capital. “People just sit down in Abuja for two months, go home, spend two days and come back to Abuja. That’s not service to the nation at all. That’s not service to the state,” Nyesom Wike said.
He argued that politics is local and that leaders who know their people can still mobilise support without holding a governor’s office.

Leadership, he said, meant persuading people to work together for the state rather than chasing personal interest.
