Yakasai Urges Tinubu Appointees to Engage Nigerians

Umar Tanko Yakasai urges Tinubu appointees to engage Nigerians and promote inclusion while carrying out government responsibilities

Senior All Progressive Congress (APC) chieftain Umar Tanko Yakasai has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s appointees to carry Nigerians along in the execution of their duties. Yakasai made the call during an Iftar event in Abuja on Monday.

He stressed that appointees should act as a “shining light” for citizens, ensuring that government policies and initiatives are inclusive and widely communicated.

Yakasai highlighted the importance of transparency and engagement in consolidating support for the current administration.

“Few of us that got appointed should do everything humanly possible to carry as many members of the support groups as they can along in order to distribute patronage and support one another as well as the president’s efforts to reward party faithfuls,” Yakasai, who also serves as Director General of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), said.

In addition to urging inclusivity, Yakasai encouraged Nigerians to reject tribalism and religious bias, calling for a united effort to support the administration’s programmes.

The comments come shortly after President Tinubu swore in Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance, signalling continued consolidation of his cabinet and efforts to strengthen governance.

Yakasai’s remarks have drawn attention to the need for active engagement between government appointees and the public, emphasising that effective communication is essential for public trust and policy success.
