ADC Adamawa crisis intensifies as Imran Wakili blames Atiku Abubakar for alleged collapse of coalition structure in the state.
Political commentator Imran Wakili on Tuesday alleged that former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar is responsible for the deepening ADC Adamawa crisis, following claims that key political figures who helped build the African Democratic Congress coalition in the state have since exited the party.

Wakili made the remarks in a post on the social media platform 𝕏, where he argued that the coalition structure that once formed the backbone of the ADC in Adamawa State had largely disintegrated.
According to him, the ADC Adamawa crisis is evident in the alleged departure of several prominent politicians who were originally part of the party’s coalition arrangement in the state, leaving what he described as a significantly weakened political structure.
He specifically stated that former governorship candidate Aishatu Binani had moved to the Nigeria Democratic Congress, while former Governor Jibrilla Bindow was reportedly consulting on his next political move.
Wakili further claimed that former Senator Ishaku Abbo had joined the Labour Party, while Abdulaziz Nyako had defected to the All Progressives Congress, suggesting a broader pattern of political realignment away from the ADC in Adamawa State.
The commentator argued that these developments pointed to a collapse of the coalition effort and insisted that Atiku Abubakar could not be absolved of responsibility for the situation.
In a strongly worded post, Wakili described the situation as a “mess” and claimed that Atiku Abubakar was now left with only a small circle of loyalists within the party structure in the state.
He added that only a few figures, including Atiku Abubakar’s son Adamu and other close associates, remained within the ADC fold.
The claims have not been independently verified, and no official response has been issued by Atiku Abubakar or the African Democratic Congress at the time of filing this report.

Political observers note that the situation highlights ongoing tensions and fluid alliances within opposition politics in Adamawa State, particularly ahead of future electoral cycles.
