Adeola Ogun APC governorship ticket secured as Senator Olamilekan Adeola emerges consensus candidate for 2026 Ogun State race
Senator Olamilekan Adeola, emerged as the All Progressives Congress consensus governorship candidate following a high-level caucus meeting of party stakeholders.

The Adeola Ogun APC governorship ticket was confirmed after deliberations at the APC Secretariat, where Governor Dapo Abiodun and state party chairman Yemi Sanusi presided over proceedings involving key party leaders.
Senator Adeola, popularly known as Yayi and representing Ogun West Senatorial District, was endorsed ahead of other prominent aspirants, including Iyabo Obasanjo, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka and Tunde Lemo.
The decision was reached after extensive consultations aimed at strengthening unity within the party ahead of the upcoming governorship election.
In his acceptance remarks, Adeola expressed gratitude to party leaders and members for what he described as a historic opportunity.
“I sincerely thank all my leaders, party members for this great opportunity bestowed upon me today,” he said.
He acknowledged the contributions of fellow aspirants and called for cohesion within the party structure, stressing the importance of unity for electoral success.
“I believe in oneness and the unity of our dear state and Ogun West by extension,” he added.
Adeola outlined his vision for Ogun State, describing it as a key industrial hub within Nigeria’s economic landscape and promising to build on existing progress.
He assured stakeholders that he would maintain peace, stability and continuity in governance if elected.
“I will not let you down. I promise to keep the flag flying,” he said, pledging inclusiveness and collective progress across all party factions.
Governor Dapo Abiodun commended party leaders for what he described as a successful consensus-building process, noting that unity remained central to the party’s strategy.
