APC 2026 Convention Media Committee inaugurated in Abuja as Information Minister Mohammed Idris urges professionalism and effective communication
The All Progressives Congress on Monday inaugurated its Media and Publicity Subcommittee for the party’s 2026 National Convention, charging members to handle the assignment with professionalism and strategic focus.

The committee was inaugurated in Abuja by the Co-Chairman and Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, who emphasised the importance of effective communication in managing the party’s major political event.
Mohammed Idris said the administration of Bola Tinubu was currently implementing bold reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth and long-term development.
“As a party, the APC remains committed to advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President, and this forthcoming convention provides another opportunity to demonstrate our unity, discipline and shared commitment to national progress,” he said.
He stressed that the responsibility of the media committee was both strategic and vital, particularly in an era where information moves rapidly and shapes public perception.
“Your role goes beyond publicity. It involves ensuring accurate information dissemination, promoting transparency, coordinating media engagement and projecting the process and outcomes of the convention to Nigerians and the international community,” he added.
The minister outlined several deliverables for the committee, including content creation, media relations, media planning and buying, liaison with other convention subcommittees on communication matters, documentation and reporting, media monitoring and performance evaluation.
Other responsibilities include preparing comprehensive reports in both print and audio-visual formats and coordinating all media activities related to the convention.

Mohammed Idris urged members to approach the assignment with creativity, dedication and a strong sense of duty to ensure a smooth and credible communication process for the convention.
