APC Dagogo suspension sparks debate as party warns that bypassing internal dispute mechanisms may lead to expulsion
The All Progressives Congress, APC, has addressed the indefinite suspension of Rivers State chieftain, Fubara Dagogo, by party executives in Ward 4, Bonny Local Government Area.

Speaking on Arise Television on Friday, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka emphasised that bypassing internal conflict resolution mechanisms constitutes grounds for expulsion.
Dagogo’s suspension followed allegations of anti-party activities after he initiated legal action against the APC regarding its upcoming national convention.
Dagogo had claimed he paid N5.1 million for the nomination form but alleged that the party refused to provide the necessary documents to formalise his candidacy.
The legal move reportedly prompted the disciplinary action at the local party level.
Morka said, “Zoning elective offices is a practice we’ve grown accustomed to in our democracy. It ensures inclusion and prevents offices from being disproportionately concentrated in one area. The APC constitution is clear: when a dispute arises between an individual and the party, internal reconciliation mechanisms must be exhausted. Going to court before exploring these mechanisms could lead to expulsion, not just suspension.”
Political analysts suggest that the incident highlights tensions within party structures and underscores the importance of adhering to internal rules to prevent legal escalations.

The APC has not indicated whether further disciplinary measures will follow, but the statement signals the party’s firm stance on internal compliance ahead of critical national events.
