Bauchi PDP Says Governor Bala Mohammed No Longer a Member

Bauchi State PDP declares Governor Bala Mohammed no longer a member, calling his claim of membership misleading and citing NEC resolutions

The Bauchi State Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has declared that Governor Bala Mohammed is no longer a member of the party, describing his recent claim of membership as misleading.

The statement, signed by caretaker chairman Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, was issued after attention was drawn to a viral video in which the governor allegedly claimed he remained a PDP member while breaking the Ramadan fast with supporters at the Government House in Bauchi.

“For the avoidance of doubt, this claim is misleading,” the committee said.

The Bauchi PDP cited the 103rd and 104th resolutions of the PDP National Executive Committee, noting that Governor Bala Mohammed, alongside Governor Seyi Makinde and Governor Dauda Lawal, had been formally expelled for actions deemed inconsistent with the party constitution.

The committee added that public declarations and media engagements cannot override the established NEC resolutions and that the party’s position “remains clear and has not changed.”

The statement advised that if Governor Mohammed genuinely wishes to remain in the PDP, he should pursue reconciliation with key stakeholders he had publicly confronted, particularly Nyesom Wike.

Beyond the political dispute, the caretaker committee urged the governor to focus on governance, citing rising insecurity in Bauchi State, especially within his local government area.

The Bauchi PDP also called on members and stakeholders in the state to treat the governor’s statement with caution and continue supporting the caretaker committee, emphasising that “the integrity of the party’s processes must be preserved at all times.”
