Ahmad expressed concerns that the Presidential and National Assembly elections set for February 20, 2027, and the Governorship and State Assembly elections on March 6, 2027, coincide with the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement on his X handle, Ahmad noted that Ramadan is a period when many Muslims devote time to fasting, prayer, and spiritual reflection, which may reduce engagement in demanding worldly activities, including voting.

He emphasized that, given Nigeria’s diverse population and significant Muslim community, rescheduling the elections could promote broader participation and ensure inclusiveness and national cohesion.
