APC’s Daniel Onjeh rejects Moro’s call against Governor Alia, citing ongoing development in Benue South and pledging continued support
Comrade Daniel Onjeh, the 2023 All Progressives Congress (APC) Benue South senatorial candidate, has dismissed Senator Abba Moro’s call urging Idoma voters to oppose Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia in the 2027 elections, insisting that the people of Benue South will continue to support the governor.

In a statement issued on Monday, Onjeh described Moro’s remarks as a desperate political move that does not reflect the mood of the people.
“The statement follows a pattern Benue South people already recognise from Senator Moro and elements of the PDP who, over the years, have relied on shifting political gimmicks to keep the zone tied down,” he said.
Onjeh referenced past unfulfilled promises, including the creation of Apa State, noting that Moro has not accused Governor Alia of poor governance.
The APC candidate argued that claims of inequality collapse when examined against ongoing development projects across the zone.
He highlighted infrastructure projects such as ongoing water schemes in Ogbadibo Local Government Area, including Olachagbaha in Otukpa District and Owukpa, as well as projects slated for Orokam.
Road projects include the Igumale-Agila corridor in Ado LGA, the Oju-Awajir road in Oju LGA, and road works in Agatu and surrounding communities.
Onjeh also pointed to the rehabilitation of the Otobi Waterworks, which has restored water supply to Otukpo and surrounding areas after years of shortage.
He emphasised that development in the state capital, Makurdi, benefits all Benue residents, saying: “Makurdi belongs to every Benue citizen, including Benue South.
Projects in the capital are not the property of one zone but part of development for the entire state.”
Onjeh further noted that Benue South holds key positions in state government, including ministries such as Finance, Education, Health, Information, Water Resources, Environment, and Women Affairs, weakening claims of marginalisation.
The APC candidate challenged Moro to account for annual constituency project funds, reportedly about ₦2 billion per senator, and urged leaders to focus on strengthening Benue South’s national political relevance rather than political distractions.
“Development is already visible and will continue to spread steadily across communities. No government can meet every demand at once, but with patience and committed leadership, progress will continue,” Onjeh said.

He expressed confidence that the Idoma people will support Governor Alia again in the 2027 election, stressing that development takes time and comes in phases.
