Dino Melaye praises Peter Obi as a fantastic Nigerian but says he lacks the unity to become president in 2027
Former Kogi West Senator Dino Melaye has described ex-Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi as a “fantastic Nigerian,” while asserting that he is not ready to lead the country.

Melaye said Obi lacks the capacity to unify Nigeria, despite his admirable qualities and consistent declarations to contest the 2027 presidential election.
“But let me even tell you, Peter Obi is a fantastic Nigerian. I have tremendous respect for him, and I’ve said it before, he is a fantastic person, but this is not his time to be President,” Melaye remarked.
Melaye, who left the National Assembly in 2019, previously contested the Kogi State gubernatorial election under the Peoples Democratic Party but lost to incumbent Governor Ahmed Ododo.
