Kadri Obafemi Hamzat pledged decentralised Lagos services, mini-secretariats in Ikorodu, Badagry and Epe, and growth built on each division’s economic strength
Lagos State Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress governorship candidate Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat said he wanted decentralised Lagos services so residents would not have to travel to Alausa for most government business.

Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat spoke on Thursday during “KOH Unscripted in Ikorodu” on IKD 106.1 FM.
He said growth should follow the five IBILE divisions, Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island and Epe, and that each area should build on its own economic strengths.
“We must decentralise Lagos. Alausa should not be the only place where people can access government services.
We should have mini-secretariats in Ikorodu, Badagry, and Epe, so that perhaps 80 per cent of the services people need can be resolved within their divisions, while matters requiring further attention can be escalated to Alausa,” he said. “Also, each division of the state needs to develop around its unique economic strengths, and the government must deliberately plug into the opportunities available in different parts of Lagos.”
He pointed to agriculture, food processing and transport in Ikorodu and said infrastructure should follow emerging institutions.
He called for a reorganisation of local government that covers physical offices and finances, including tighter checks on leakages and ghost workers.
Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat said Lagos should be planned as a borderless metropolitan city because people from neighbouring states already use its hospitals, roads and water.
He cited Orile Agege General Hospital, where many patients come from outside Lagos.
On transport he described interchanges linking buses, rail and ferries, and routes through Ikorodu, Badore, Victoria Island and Marina.
He said 77 electric buses, in 30- and 40-seater models, were being introduced to cut diesel and petrol costs.
He also said Ikorodu General Hospital and other major hospitals should expand, including housing for doctors and nurses.
On water he said Lagos still depends on sources in Ogun State and needs cooperation and compensation.
He said completion of the Adiyan water project and pipelines would raise supply.
He closed by asking citizens and organisations to share the work of building schools and other institutions.
These remarks form a governing and campaign prospectus rather than a completed programme.

Delivery will turn on funding, land, inter-state water deals and whether mini-secretariats actually remove the pull of Alausa.
