Kazeem contests Alimosho Lagos Assembly seat APC as journalist Oluwanifemi Kazeem declares bid for Lagos State House of Assembly
Oluwanifemi Kazeem, a seasoned journalist, broadcaster and entrepreneur, on Wednesday, 29 April 2026, in Lagos, announced her intention to contest for the Alimosho Constituency I seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly under the platform of the All Progressives Congress after concluding consultations with party leaders in the area.

Kazeem said her decision to join the race was informed by growing calls from residents for more accessible, youth-driven and development-oriented representation in the state legislature.
She pledged to offer effective leadership while ensuring that constituents are actively involved in decisions affecting their community, promising what she described as a transparent and inclusive approach to representation.
“I am coming into the race with a full understanding of the constituency, the workings of the state legislature, and the diverse interests of our people,” she said.
Kazeem also described Alimosho Constituency I as a politically significant area with a large voting population, noting that women in particular play a vital role in its electoral dynamics.
She stressed the need for stronger female participation in governance, adding that her candidacy would help amplify the voice of women in the constituency.
“Women should have a stronger voice in our constituency, and I am ready to serve as that voice,” she added.
APC aspirant hails from a politically active family background. Her father, Alhaji M. Kazeem, is a known figure in local politics, while her mother, Olabisi Kazeem, previously served as a councillor under the Progressive People Alliance.
She grew up in Abule Oki, Iyana Ipaja, where she attended Alimosho Primary School and Alimosho Secondary School before proceeding to Olabisi Onabanjo University.
She also received professional training at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria Training School.
With over 20 years of experience in media, Kazeem has worked with Daar Communications Plc, Television Continental, and City People Magazine.

She noted that her extensive coverage of the Lagos State House of Assembly has given her a deep understanding of governance, policymaking and community engagement, which she intends to bring into legislative service.
