The dispute resolved was disclosed in a statement signed by the council’s Publicity Secretary, Kola Olomide, who quoted the President-General, Ajeniyi Ajewole, as saying the matter was settled through established Ibadan conflict-resolution mechanisms.

Ajewole explained that elders and key stakeholders intervened promptly, ensuring the issue did not escalate into a broader crisis requiring external involvement.

He dismissed circulating rumours suggesting moves to remove either the governor or the monarch, describing such claims as unfounded and misleading.

According to him, the relationship between Makinde and the Olubadan remains cordial and rooted in mutual respect, likening it to a father and son bond.

The Makinde and Olubadan dispute resolved also prompted a warning to individuals attempting to inflame tensions, with the council insisting that Ibadan possesses a strong and effective internal system for managing disputes.

Ajewole urged residents to remain calm and continue supporting peace and development across the state, emphasising the importance of unity.

He further commended Governor Makinde for his governance efforts, including infrastructure development, prompt payment of salaries and pensions, job creation, and security improvements.

The Olubadan was also praised for his leadership role, particularly in advancing initiatives aimed at economic growth and curbing land grabbing.
