Moses Paul Claims Plot to Weaken NDC Leadership Rift

Moses Paul alleges NDC leadership crisis plot targeting Peter Obi, Kwankwaso and Dickson, claiming efforts to destabilise the party

Moses Paul, former chairmanship candidate of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), has alleged that a coordinated attempt is underway to destabilise the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), intensifying concerns over an emerging NDC leadership crisis Peter Obi.

Moses Paul made the claim on Thursday, June 12, 2026, during an appearance on Arise Television’s Prime Time, where he spoke on internal tensions within the party and rising political speculation around its key figures.

He alleged that the crisis within the NDC is being engineered by external and internal actors seeking to create division among prominent leaders, including Peter Obi, Senator Rabi’u Kwankwaso, and former Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson.

According to Moses Paul, the objective is to weaken the party by fostering mistrust and disunity among its top stakeholders, particularly at a time when the party is positioning itself for national elections.

He insisted that Peter Obi had not personally nominated or influenced any candidate selection within the party structure, dismissing suggestions linking the former presidential candidate to internal disputes.

“The agenda is to bring NDC to its knees. To the best of my knowledge, Peter Obi did not nominate, and he did not influence any of all of those,” Moses Paul said.

He further argued that ongoing tensions within the party are being deliberately amplified to create disorder and instability, warning that such developments could undermine the party’s long-term political ambitions.

Moses Paul also described the leadership trio of Peter Obi, Rabi’u Kwankwaso, and Seriake Dickson as central figures whose unity is being targeted by political actors seeking to fracture the party’s cohesion.

“So, they’re trying to ensure that they bring division, especially within the three wise men, like I will call them, Peter Obi, Senator Kwankwaso, and also Senator Seriake Dickson,” he added.

He maintained that the alleged plot was designed to weaken the party from within and derail its growing influence on the national political stage.

Political observers note that the remarks add to ongoing speculation about internal disagreements within the NDC as it seeks to consolidate its structure ahead of future elections.
