APC foundation member Osita Okechukwu calls on Enugu governor Peter Mbah to join the party, dismissing opposition from Minister Uche Nnaji and stressing the need to win Enugu in 2027
All Progressives Congress (APC) foundation member Osita Okechukwu has urged Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State to join the ruling party, assuring him that opposition from within should not discourage his defection.

In a statement on Monday, Okechukwu questioned why Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, would resist Mbah’s possible move to the APC, accusing the minister of acting like “a hijacker and political bandit from the PDP.”
“For we, the foundation members, Governor Peter Mbah should disregard the rantings of our dear brother, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, because we want to win Lion Building for the first time and join 23 other states to guarantee President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory in 2027,” Okechukwu said.
Okechukwu’s comments came in response to Nnaji’s statement during a Sunday meeting in Enugu, where the minister declared:
“Anybody who wants to run for the governorship of Enugu State, let him come to the APC; we will go to contest, we are waiting for them.”
The APC stalwart also criticised Nnaji’s performance in office, saying there had been no notable innovation from his ministry since his appointment.
He further pointed out Nnaji’s poor showing in the 2023 elections, where he placed fourth in the governorship race with 14,575 votes and secured only 4,722 votes for President Tinubu in the state’s presidential poll.

Okechukwu insisted that embracing Mbah and his allies would strengthen APC’s chances of winning Enugu Government House for the first time in 2027.
