Osun APC, ADC Reject Court Rulings, Vow Strong Appeals

Osun APC and ADC reject court rulings in separate cases, describing them as miscarriage of justice and vowing to pursue appeals

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Najeem Salaam, have separately rejected recent Federal High Court judgments affecting their political interests, describing the decisions as miscarriages of justice.

The reactions followed two separate rulings delivered by Federal High Courts in Osogbo and Abuja, which touched on local government leadership disputes and the status of political parties.

The APC faulted the Osogbo division of the Federal High Court for dismissing its suit involving reinstated local government chairmen and councillors elected in October 2022, insisting that the ruling wrongly interpreted the tenure of elected officials.

In a statement issued by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the party said the judgment would be challenged at the Court of Appeal, stressing that legal processes were already underway.

“The Federal High Court verdict is a miscarriage of justice, and we shall put the judgment to the test at the appropriate venue,” the statement read.

The party also called for calm among supporters, warning against actions capable of triggering unrest while the appeal process is ongoing.

It further urged security agencies to remain alert, alleging that some political actors may attempt to exploit the situation to create tension in the state.

In a separate reaction, ADC governorship candidate Najeem Salaam criticised a Federal High Court ruling in Abuja ordering the deregistration of the party alongside others.

Salaam said the judgment did not mark the end of the ADC’s legal or political journey, insisting that the party would seek redress through constitutional means.

He expressed confidence that appellate courts would overturn what he described as a miscarriage of justice and protect democratic rights.

Salaam also urged party members across Osun State to remain calm and focused ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

He maintained that the ADC remained committed to its campaign and continued mobilisation across different segments of society, including youths, workers, farmers and professionals.

Both parties affirmed that they would pursue all available legal channels while maintaining political engagement in the state.
